About Me

with 13 comments

Welcome! My name is Tracie, and I’m a wife and mother of four. I’m an in-house graphic designer for my church in Charlotte, North Carolina (it’s only the best job on the planet). Besides graphic design, I love singing and writing. I also love movies and books–I’m fascinated by stories!

This is my first serious blog site. I feel both powerful and intimidated! (It’s way too easy to share your views with the world nowadays.) I started this blog because I have a gift–writing–that’s been sitting on the counter, slightly dusty and underused. I mean, I did open the gift. I use it everyday. But I only use the superficial features, the familiar ones.

Recently the One who gave me this gift reminded me that it comes with lots of cool, yet sadly neglected features. Of course, I’ve been using the one or two simple features that produce predictable results. I mean, what if I tried one of those cool new features and the whole thing broke? Or worse, what if I tried it, and I screwed it all up, and everyone saw me screw it all up? It’s hard enough to fail without the whole world watching!

(Um … I love allegory!)

I’ve been learning, though, that gifts are meant to be opened and shared. My insecurities are irrelevant when it comes down to it. Besides, a gift reflects the giver more than the receiver; so why should I worry what people will think of it? It is what it is–it’s what I’ve been given. And the Giver is generous and wise, and He was gracious enough to give me a gift He knew I and others would enjoy … if I’d stop being intimidated by it and just use it already! (And besides, the whole world doesn’t even know I exist; they’re probably not watching me succeed, or fail, or anything else).

I’ve loved to write since I can remember. So I’m going to do it! I really hope you’ll enjoy reading as much as I’ll enjoy writing.

  4. I just love you!! Found your blog by accident, well, not really cause I don’t believe in accidents. I love your writings… definitely a gift!!! Loved the movie reviews. Maybe you should look into getting into that field. They were better than any review I’ve ever read. Well, I’ll bookmark you and check back frequently. I’ve recently started working on a blog, but it’s mostly to keep the family up to date about Mr. Seth. I’ll have to email it to you. Love you girl!!

  7. Hi, Tracie!

Thanks for giving Final Days Forum a wonderful spot on your cool site! I also thank you for your kind comments…

We DO seem to have some of the same movie favorites. I read the list on your site, treyka.wordpress.com. LOTR, Pride and Prejudice, Spider-Man 2, Sense and Sensibility, the Long Kiss Goodnight — all are among my absolute favorites. Wow.

  8. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a couple of comments on my blog, Tracie. It is always good to hear from other brothers and sisters in Christ, even though much of what I write is not overtly “Christian”–though I try to write everything from a Christian perspective. I have enjoyed looking around your blog as well. God bless.

  11. Hey thanks so much for the compliment..although I feel bad accepting it, you see it’s another example of why I love blogging. I had this picture I took on a mission trip up there that didn’t really fit what I was trying to do with my blog and Joel over at cecworship.wordpress.com created it for me! So, it’s really his creation so I’ll pass your compliment along to him Haha.
